The limitation of a word is that it becomes a closed concept.

Once you say ‘spoon’, a particular mental image is conjured up and every reaction to that particular object will be done to justify the word ‘spoon’.

Now the word spoon explains only so much as the reality of that shape is not the word ‘spoon’.

It is in the curvature of the object, in the colour of the silver, in the strength of the metal and in the way the object rests in the mouth. It is in the myriad of ways the spoon can be utilised. As a doorstop, or as a paper weight. As a musical instrument, producing different sounds when in contact with the different surfaces. Or simply as a mirror that distorts images for a fun perspective on things to draw.
